Biography:

Mohamed Barakat Zakaria received his PhD degree (2016) in Engineering from Waseda University (Japan) supervised by Prof. Yusuke Yamauchi. He then joined National Institute for Materials Science in Tsukuba/Japan (2016-2018) as a JSPS Fellow supervised by Prof. Toyohiro Chikyow. From 2018 to 2020 he moved to the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology of The University of Queensland (Australia) in the Nanoarchitectured Inorganic Materials for his second Postdoc. In 2020, he joined Ruhr University of Bochum (RUB) in Germany as a Humboldt Fellow for three years (2020-2023). Since 2023 he is a Humboldt Fellow and an associate Professor of Physical Chemistry at Tanta University. Mohamed is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). He is a recipient of many awards such as JSPS Fellowship/Japan (2016), IAAM Young Scientist Prestigious Medal/Stockholm (2018), Humboldt Research Fellowship/Germany (2020), etc. He authors more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 4 patents, and 1 book with an h-index = 23 and 2000 citations and delivered around 35 presentations in international conferences. His research focuses on heterogeneous catalysis and functional/porous materials engineering and chemistry for water electrolysis, OER, HER, ORR, CO2RR, ENRR, and supercapacitors.
